| It's cooling off and September has arrived. Notice that this has the last two steps of the mystery. You are all done sewing the blocks (you are all done, aren't you?!!!) It's time to make more decisions --- I know, decisions, decisions! Well, first let me tell you that this "mystery'' is named Boxy Stars and it is from Bonnie Hunters website (which Louise has mentioned to us); www.Quiltville.com you have internet capability, you can go on this site and see various examples of this quilt - along with lot of other scrappy quilts. Bonnie has written a terrific book (editorial comment, on my part), Scraps & Shirttails. But, I digress.
Step 4: Join four blocks together (like a 4 patch) -- this will give you a 12" finished block - and, now, for another decision. How are you going to put them together? ...or, do you even want to put four of them together at all? - maybe you want to treat each 6" finished block as a unit all by itself. ...and, if so, how do you want to sew them together? Possible options for either the 12" or 6" units: latticed, latticed with cornerstones, set on point, set as a striper, set block to block --- and, oh, I just thought, what would happen if you used both 12'' and 6'' blocks together? You get the idea - there are lots of variables and you get to make the choice. I am so looking forward to seeing these quilts.

Step 5: You knew it was coming -- layer and quilt as desired. Bind it, prepare it to hang in the LAP quilt show in May. Thanks so much for participating --- I hope you have enjoyed it! |
